CUA in Washington
The Washington, DC area is a valuable resource both for the student's education and recreation. The Physics Department's location in one of the most important scientific and technological centers of the world is a distinct advantage for students of physics. Faculty and students have an uncommonly rich opportunity for interaction with colleagues and the sharing of special facilities in the many local research centers. The DC metropolitan area has one of the highest concentrations of physicists and physical scientists in the country working at local universities, industrial and national laboratories. In Washington, the student is also located in one of the most important centers in the Nation for theater, the visual arts, music and sports. The METRO rapid transit stop, immediately adjacent to the campus of Catholic University, places virtually all of these activities within minutes of our campus.
Off-campus internships are available at major labs nearby, including NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Naval Research Laboratory, and the National Institutes of Health.
